All-American Kaye Cross holds fair claim to rank as the best combination scholar ad women's basketball player that the state has developed.

The Portsmouth, NH High School graduate, a 6'5" center, established nine career records and seven single season records as a four-year All-State choice for Colby College.

Her marks include most career points (1,452), and rebounds (966), along with season standards of 488 points and 342 rebounds her senior campaign when her 18.8 scoring average also is a Mule record. All this while maintaining an excellent 3.6 grade average and being elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

Additional honors include All-New England first team, New England Division III Player of the Year, ECAC All-New England, Kodak All-American Divisoin III (one of only ten in the nation), 1983-'84.

Also, Academic All-American, honorable mention 1981-'82, and second team 1982-'83.

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1972 for the purpose of: 1) appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes; and, 2) to formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction and honor to the state of Maine.
