Larry DiGiammarino
Born on November 9, 1960 in Coral Gables, Florida

One of the finest football players in the history of Bates College, Larry DiGiammarino is that school's first All-American football player. Playing the sport all four years, he captured the Kodak All-American Award; ECAC New England Player of the Year; UPI New England Division 2-3 Player of the Year; New England Football Writers' Association Gold Helmet winner; Bates Norm Parent Award winner as offensive MVP and holds eight of possible nine Bates receiving records. Larry's athletic honors don't end there, however. Captain of the baseball teams his senior year, he was among the team's leading hitters the first three seasons. He holds a career hitting average of .324.

His major fields of interest at Bates were Economics/Law and his plans are to continue in law and government.

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1972 for the purpose of: 1) appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes; and, 2) to formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction and honor to the state of Maine.
