Charles Milan, III
Born on July 14, 1936 in
John Bapst
St. Anselems (NH)

Charles Milan, III probably has won more candlepin championships and set more records than he can remember.

Getting his competitive start as a 12-year-old junior bowler, Charlie has been Maine Champion an unbelievable 18 times. He's won the world championship tournament four times, has been New England ruler twice and holds numerous lane records all around New England.

Proving a solid all-round athlete while at John Bapst, he won a few state junior bowling titles. As a St. Anselem's College student, he won his first state adult crown and by 1968 he had logged his tenth title. He added number 18 three years ago with a 1,294 in the ten-string final at the Big 20.

His 10-string 1,467 in winning the Eastern Maine title at Rockport in 1963 remains a world record, as does his 707 for five strings in the 1968 world tourney.

Rolling on the Channel 7 candlepin show he keyed for many years, Milan fired a 460 triple for the highest ever on camera. He has shared in untold dual and team honors over the years.

Charlie is married to the former Marie Gosselin of Bangor. They have 3 sons, Charles Henry IV, John Fitzgerald, James Edward, and a daughter, Dawn Marie.
