Steve Abbott
Born on November 30, -0001 in Orono, Maine

Steve Abbott has occupied about as high a success plateau as is possible in inter-scholastic athletics and overall school citizenship - complementing his full share in epic Orono team accomplishments with commendable scholarship plus outstanding leadership in extracurricular activities.

A sterling tight end on offense and standout at various defensive positions, Steve never knew defeat as a member of four straight all-conquering teams gaining league and state championships.

He was a three-year Little Ten and state C-B All-Star selection on both offense and defense.

Also a four-year basketballer, he was the valuable center of Orono's Eastern and state B champions the past season.

Twenty-fifth in his class of 117, he also ranks high on character and personality scales. Class President and National Honor Society member two years, he was chosen as one of Maine's two representatives to the U.S. Senate Youth Program.

Son of former UMO football coach Walt Abbott, Steve will attend Harvard University.

Our Mission

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1972 for the purpose of: 1) appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes; and, 2) to formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction and honor to the state of Maine.
