Dave Wyman
Born on November 9, 1959 in Westminster, Massachusetts

Dave Wyman, 6'6" forward, played a key four-year role in the University of Maine-Orono's basketbal progress to the point of consistently strong regional contention and good competitive accounts against some of the hoop powers of the Nation.

A truly unselfish player high in the categories of assists and rebounds while challenging the opponents' top shooters with tenacious defense, Dave well exemplified the team spirit which elevated the hoop Black Bears to a level most observers thought was beyond their talents.

Showing true leadership qualities well in advance of his co-captaincy, Dave Wyman additionally hnored his team, his university, and his sport by sustaining the highest ethics of the game. The Westminster, MA, product was always the gentleman at no sacrifice to his full competitive fire.

And through all of basketball's demands, mathematics major Dave fashioned a commendable 3.18 average as a steady member of the Dean's List and gained Basketball Academic All-American recognition.

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1972 for the purpose of: 1) appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes; and, 2) to formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction and honor to the state of Maine.
