University of Maine, 1963

Head trainer at the University of Maine for over 30 years, Wes Jordan has gained extensive and national acclaim in his field.

The former Lisbon High three-sport captain (state Class C football champions, 1956) was a valuable lineman for Colby College's 1958 state football titlist and, upon transferring to Maine, was a force up front as the Black Bears won state and Yankee Conference honors as the University's last undefeated grid combine.

Jordan got his start in his chosen field as student trainer at Maine while sitting out a season due to the transfer.

Wes started his professional career with a two-year stint at Brewer High School as assistant football coach and trainer.

Back at his Maine alma mater, he went on to have a hand directly or indirectly via assistants in sustaining the welfare of the entire Maine athletic family as the number of sports teams grew with the years -- including the women's programs.

He also taught a course, Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries.

In time, the Jordan reputation drew multiple assignments worldwide and a bountiful harvest of honors.

Wes has been the trainer for a variety of U.S. teams in over a 20-year period in international competition: Pan American Games; Men's Field Hockey; 1980 Winter Olympics at Lake Placid; U.S. baseball in Korea, Japan, Belgium, Puerto Rico, Goodwill Games in Seattle, World Championships in Edmonton, Alberta.

Jordan's honors list: National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Directors, 1974-80; Eastern A.T.A. Distinguished Service, 1979; National A.T.A. Ethics Committee, 1982-present; Maine Interscholastic Athletic Directors Association, Distinguished Service, 1992; Inductee, National A.T.A. Hall of Fame, 1994.

Latest, Maine Chapter National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame, Contribution to Amateur Football.

Jordan resides in Orono, has two daughters, Teri Ann, Tracy Lee, and son, John Wesley.
