Nathan Holmes

Nate is ranked in the top 15% of his class of 260 with a GPA of 89.14. He has been accepted to attend the University of Connecticut with a major in Marketing. He is the son of Andrew and Maryleigh Holmes.

Nate has been captain of his Mustangs Soccer, Basket­ball, and Outdoor Track teams. He also played football and ran Indoor Track. His greatest athletic achievements have been through Track and Field where he has established himself as one of Maine's best schoolboy hurdlers ever. In Indoor Track he holds Southwestern Maine Activities Association and State records. In Outdoor Track, in the 110 high hurdles, he is the defending SMAA champion and record holder, State Champion, and the 2000 New England runner-up.

Activities beyond the athletic arenas include Leo Club and Dirigo Boys' State. "Nate strives to do his best in every situation in which he finds himself. Even before entering high school he had been recognized by the selectmen in his community with the Waterboro Junior Citizenship Award. Nate is a down-to-earth wholesome young adult with integrity and moral values."

Our Mission

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1972 for the purpose of: 1) appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes; and, 2) to formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction and honor to the state of Maine.
