MSHOF Induction Ceremony Scheduled for Sunday October 29th is Postponed

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame wishes to express our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of those innocent victims of the mass shooting in Lewiston a few days ago. Given the ongoing public safety issues as well as our respect for and solidarity with the people of the greater-Lewiston area, we have made the decision to postpone our Induction Ceremony scheduled for Sunday, October 29th at Merrill Auditorium. We are working with the City of Portland and Merrill Auditorium to select a new date and will share that information as soon as possible. All ticket purchases will be valid for the new date. Doug Friedman named Executive Director of MSHOF

Doug Friedman named Executive Director of the Maine Sports Hall of Fame

Doug Friedman, who grew up in Cape Elizabeth and played in the National Hockey League has been named Executive Director of the Maine Sports Hall of Fame. He replaces Bill Green who steps down after three and a half years at the post. Bill Green will remain on the Board of Directors and serve as Executive Producer and Host of this year’s Induction Ceremony which will air on Maine Public Television.

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1972 for the purpose of: 1) appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes; and, 2) to formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction and honor to the state of Maine.
