Blaine Trafton has participated in golf, swimming, and tennis during his career at Morse High School in Bath. A three-year member of the Shipbuilder golf squad, he was a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Qualifier. An outstanding swimmer, he has participated in that sport for four years and served as team captain of the 2002-2003 KVAC team champions. Blaine was the KVAC champion in the 200-yard freestyle, the 500-yard freestyle, the 50-yard freestyle, the 100-yard freestyle, the 200-yard medley relay, and the 200-yard freestyle relay. He was a KVAC All-Star during all four seasons and participated in four state championship meets. He was named to the Maine Interscholastic Swimming League All-Academic Swim Team this past season.
Blaine is active in student life at Morse and has been a member of the Morse High School concert band, jazz ensemble, and marching band, where he plays saxophone. He has participated in District III Honors Band and the District III Solo Ensemble Festival. A state finalist for the Wendy's High School Heisman Award, he has also received the Maine Scholars Achievement Award, the Rensselaer Medal, and Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Award.
The valedictorian of a class of 185, he plans to attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the fall. At RPI, he plans to major in Chemical Engineering. He is the son of Vicki and Michael Trafton of Bath.

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1972 for the purpose of: 1) appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes; and, 2) to formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction and honor to the state of Maine.
