Sam Fletcher

One of the top schoolboy runners in the state of Maine, Sam Fletcher has participated in cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track at Edward Little High School in Auburn. Sam is a four-time All-Conference selection in cross country and served as the team captain of the 2003 Red Eddie harrier squad. Sam also captained both the indoor and outdoor track and field teams at Edward Little and earned All-State honors in both his junior and senior seasons. He is a three-time All-SMAA selection in outdoor track and earned All-Star honors in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference when his school joined that league this year.

Sam is also an excellent student. He ranks in the top 10% of his class, which totals 255 students. Sam has a career academic average of 93.03 in a curriculum which features a number of advanced placement classes. He is active in student life at Edward Little as well and is a two­-year member of the National Honor Society. He has also served in the Interact Club, a group in which he was president the past year and the Varsity Club. He earned academic excellence awards in each of his first three years of high school and is a four-time recipient of the School Spirit Award.

Sam has been accepted at both the University of Delaware and the University of Virginia and is planning to be a pre-medicine major. He is the son of the Ralph and the late Lynn Fletcher.

Our Mission

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1972 for the purpose of: 1) appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes; and, 2) to formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction and honor to the state of Maine.
