Brittany Veazie

Dexter High School

An accomplished athletic performer at Dexter High School, Brittany Veazie has achieved excellence in field hockey, basketball, softball, and track. A starting midfielder for four years in field hockey, Brittany was a member of four state championship teams, which had a combined record of 71-0-1 during her career. She was named a Penobscot Valley Conference All-Star in field hockey for all four years and was Maine All-State and Maine Sunday Telegram All-State for the past three. She was named the Miss Maine Field Hockey winner for 2003. Brittany has also been the point guard for successful Tiger basketball teams and a three-time All-Conference selection in that sport. A defensive standout, she is a four-time All-Conference defensive pick and holds the school record for steals in a season (100) and in a game (12). Brittany was named to the McDonald's East C-D All-Star Team and was a McDonald's All-Academic Basketball Team member. Brittany also displays her athletic prowess on the softball diamond and is a two-time conference All-Star in that sport while playing center field for the Tigers. She is also a member of Dexter's track squad and has qualified for the state championship meet in four events.

Brittany is ranked first in her graduating class of 81 students and has a career grade point average of 3.71. She is highly active in student life at Dexter, and has been a member of the band, chorus, ensemble, and Key Club. She has been the class treasurer for four years and the vice-president of the National Honor Society. She has won numerous awards for her academic work and was her school's nominee and a state finalist for the Wendy's High School Heisman Award.

Brittany is planning to attend Springfield College in the fall where she will major in exercise science. She is the daughter of Richard and Margaret Veazie of Dexter.

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1972 for the purpose of: 1) appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes; and, 2) to formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction and honor to the state of Maine.
