An outstanding performer in both basketball and softball at Hampden Academy, Cheryl Morris has distinguished herself among student-athletes in both Big East and Penobscot Valley Conferences. A two-year varsity player for the Broncos basketball team, Cheryl was captain during her senior year. In that same campaign, she earned All-Conference honors while being named Big East Defensive Player of the Year as well as a Big East Scholar-Athlete. Cheryl is also a two-time All-Conference selection in softball, but was forced to sit out her senior year due to an ACL injury.

An equally strong performer in the classroom, Cheryl ranks second in her class of 180 and sports an impressive 97.143 average. She is the president of the Hampden Academy 4H ­Club and also participates in Key Club, Mock Trial, Peer Tutoring, her school's Spanish Club, and the yearbook. A leader in student life at Hampden Academy, Cheryl is the president of that school's chapter of the National Honor Society and was named as a representative to Dirigo Girls State. She was named a recipient of the Williams Book Award during her junior year.

Cheryl plans to attend Babson College in the fall. She is the daughter of Charles and Vickie Morris of Hampden.

Our Mission

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1972 for the purpose of: 1) appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes; and, 2) to formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction and honor to the state of Maine.
