Kourtney Larsen

A three-sport performer at Deer Isle-Stonington High School, Kourtney Larsen has participated in varsity soccer, cheerleading, and softball during her high school career. Kourtney is a four-year letter winner in girls' soccer and served as captain of the Mariners during both her junior and senior seasons. She was named the Most Determined Player for her squad as a freshman and Most Dedicated as a sophomore. The leading scorer for the Mariners in 2003, she was named a Penobscot Valley Conference First Team All-Star after earning second team and honorable mention honors the previous two seasons. Kourtney was also captain of the Class D State Runner-up cheerleading squad in 2004 and earned four letters in that sport during her career. In addition, she is a four-year member of the Deer Isle­ Stonington softball team.

Kourtney has a 3.89 career grade point average and is ranked third in her graduating class of 49. She has earned numerous academic awards in English, mathematics, civics, and French. The recipient of the Williams Book Award, she has also been named the recipient of the Maine Principals' Association Award during the past year. She is very involved in school activities, including the Math Team and Peer Helpers. A leader in her school, Kourtney is the president of her class and of the National Honor Society.

Kourtney is planning to attend the University of Vermont in the fall and has not yet selected a major. She is the daughter of Matt and Kim Larsen of Deer Isle.

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1972 for the purpose of: 1) appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes; and, 2) to formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction and honor to the state of Maine.
