Nicholas Runyon

A standout athlete at Yarmouth High School, Nicholas Runyon participated in soccer and skiing during his high school career. The captain of the Yarmouth Clipper soccer team, Nick led his squad to the 2004 State Class B championship. A three-year varsity player, he was named to the Western Maine Conference All-Star team during his senior season. In addition, he was named a First Team All-State performer by the Maine Sunday Telegram and awarded the Kenneth M. Roberts Leadership Award. He is a member of the Coastal Soccer Club, which won the Snickers Cup state championship tournament in 2002, 2003, and 2004.

Nick has also had a distinguished career in high school skiing and is a four-year letterman in that sport. He is a three-time Western Maine Conference All-Star in skiing and was the captain of the 2004 state championship Yarmouth team. He also played lacrosse in 2002.

Nick is very involved in extra-curricular and community activities. He is a member of the Yarmouth National Honor Society and has participated in the Young Conservatives Club and the high school math team. He is a deacon at the First Parish Church in Yarmouth and has been part of its Senior Pilgrim Fellowship program for three years. Nick has also served an internship in the office of Senator Susan Collins at the conclusion of his sophomore year. Involved with the youth of his community, he has served as a counselor at the Yarmouth Colts Soccer Camp for two summers.

Nick has a career average of 95.09 in a very rigorous curriculum, including advanced placement courses in United States history, English literature, and calculus. A proven leader at his school he will carry those qualities this fall to the United States Military Academy, there he plans to study engineering. Nick is the son of Elaine and Alexander Runyon of Yarmouth.

Our Mission

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1972 for the purpose of: 1) appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes; and, 2) to formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction and honor to the state of Maine.
