Active in three Sports at Gorham High School, Max Bass has participated in cross country, basketball. and outdoor track during a fine career at Gorham High School. Max has earned eight varsity letters during his tenure at Gorham and was named an All-Conference All-Academic performer on three occasions.
The point guard for the Rams, Max was a four-year starter for Coach Kevin Jenkins's charges. He has led his team to four consecutive tournament appearances and was named captain during both his junior and senior seasons. Max played in 82 games during his career; no Gorham player has appeared in more contests in school history, Max is a defensive whiz and holds a career mark at Gorham for steals (199). The consummate teammate, Max has recorded 346, second best in school history. Max helped lead the Rams to Western Maine Class B championships in 2004 and 2005. Notes his coach. "A true sportsman, Max competed hard, but fairly, and treated officials and opponents with respect."
Max has been very active in school clubs and groups during his time at Gorham. He has served many of these groups in leadership capacities. He was select cd to the National Honor Society and served as vice-president of that organization. Max. is also a member of the Spanish Honor Society, the Civil Rights Team, the Math Team, and the Fishing Club. He has worked as part of the Youth Voices task force, a peer organization which raises awareness of alcohol use among young people. He also volunteers his time with Gorham-area youngsters as a youth basketball coach.
A fine scholar, Max has fashioned a fine academic career at Gorham, where he has an overall average of 94.10 in a challenging curriculum. He has taken two advanced placement courses. He plans to continue his education at Lafayette College. Currently he has not selected a major. Max is the son of Lin Lisberger and Peter Bass and resides in Gorham.

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1972 for the purpose of: 1) appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes; and, 2) to formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction and honor to the state of Maine.
