A two-sport performer at Lake Region High School in Naples. Samantha Allen has participated in soccer and basketball during her four years at the school. A four-year varsity soccer player, Samantha played in all of the Lakers' games during her career and was named Rookie of the Year in 2002. She is the freshman record holder for assists by a player and was named captain her senior year, a season in which she was named to the Western Maine Conference First Team All-Star squad.
An outstanding basketball player. Samantha has also excelled for a strong Lake Region girls program. She started every game during her four-year varsity career. She was named
to the Western Maine Conference All-Star team in both 2004 and 2005 and was a Maine Sunday Telegram honorable mention choice in 2004 and an all-state selection in 2005. A talented perimeter player, she holds the school record for assists in a game (I I) and three-point field goals in a contest (4). She was named to the McDonald's A-B West All-Star squad as a senior and was a Miss Maine Basketball tlnalist. The winner of the Bob Butler Award as WMC Player of the Year and Mike DiRenzo Award as outstanding player/sportswoman of the Western Maine Class B tournament in 2006, Samantha led her team to a Western Maine Class B championship in that same season.
Samantha has extensive experience as a volunteer in her school and community. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has coordinated community food drives. She officiates and does other volunteer work with the Bridgton Recreation Department. In addition. she volunteers at Bridge Crossing, a group home for neglected children, by reading and doing arts and crafts with the youngsters. During her senior year, she and other members of the Lake Region Varsity Club adopted a child for Christmas and provided this youngster with toys and other needed items.
A top scholar, Samantha has a career average of 100.00 and ranks second in her class of 133. She has earned numerous academic awards, including medals in art, Spanish. mathematics, and social studies. In 2005 she was the recipient of the Williams Book Award. Samantha will continue her studies at Southern New Hampshire University, where she plans to major in English education. She is the daughter of Phil and Jill Allen and Lisa Chase and resides in Bridgton.

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1972 for the purpose of: 1) appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes; and, 2) to formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction and honor to the state of Maine.
