Wade Davis

One of Maine's outstanding schoolboy distance runners, Wade Davis has participated in cross country and outdoor track at Hall-Dale High School in Farmington. A four-year member of the Bulldogs' cross country team, Wade has been both team captain and an All-Conference pick on three occasions. He won the individual Class C state cross country championship as both a junior and a senior. A Maine Sunday Telegram All-State first team harrier, Wade was one of only two Maine runners to earn All-New England honors in 2008.

Wade also excels in the distance events in outdoor track. He was Class C state champion in the 3200-meter race in 2008 and was runner-up at 1600 meters in that same meet. He earned a berth in the New England Outdoor Track and Field championships held at Saco, Maine as a junior. Although his school does not offer a swimming program, he remains active in the winter participating in the Long Reach Swim Club.

In addition to his athletic prowess, Wade has been active in his school and community. He has been class treasurer for four years and has been a four-year member of the Hall-Dale Student Senate. He is a member of the National Honor Society and has been a representative to Dirigo Boys State. Wade recently attained the rank of Eagle Scout and helped build a trail in Manchester as his service project.

Wade excels in the classroom. He is the valedictorian of the Hall-Dale Class of 2009 where he has a career average of 100.30 in a challenging curriculum that has included a number of advanced placement courses. Wade has been accepted at both the Universities of Maine and Vermont and plans to be a pre-law major. He is the son of Weston and Elizabeth Davis and resides in Hallowell.

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1972 for the purpose of: 1) appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes; and, 2) to formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction and honor to the state of Maine.
