A three-sport performer at Forest Hills Consolidated School in Jackman, Elise Begin has participated in cross country, basketball, and softball during her four years at the school. Elise participated in cross country for two seasons and was named as an East-West Conference All-Star on both occasions. She began her softball career at Forest Hills as an eighth grader and earned five letters in that sport during that time. As a senior, Elise was selected as team captain.
Elise has emerged as one of the top girls basketball players in Western Maine Class D and has led her squad to several tournament berths. A four-year letter-winner, Elise captained her team as a senior and led the Tigers to a regular season record of 14-4. She capped her career by being named as one of only twenty players in Classes C and D statewide to participate in the annual McDonald's Senior All-Star Game. Elise serves as a volunteer coach for both middle school and youth basketball in the Jackman area.
In addition to her participation in athletics, Elise has established a strong reputation as a leader in her school. She is a four-year member of the Forest Hills Student Council and was elected as president in 2008. She is member of the Forest Hills chapter of the National Honor Society and has been a class officer on two occasions. Elise has participated on her school's math team for four years and was twice selected a conference all-star in mathematics.
An excellent student, Elise has a career grade average of 4.8621 in a program that includes a number of advanced placement courses. Elise is the valedictorian of her class of ten students. She will attend Colby College in the fall and is planning to be a pre-medicine major. Elise is the daughter of Clarence and Kathy Begin and resides in Jackman.

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1972 for the purpose of: 1) appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes; and, 2) to formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction and honor to the state of Maine.
