Jillian Smith

Winslow High School

A three-sport athlete at Winslow High School, Jillian Smith has participated in soccer, ice hockey, and softball. A four-year starter as both a defensive player and forward, Jillian has been a member of four consecutive Eastern Maine Class B championship teams in girls soccer. She earned four varsity letters in soccer and was named to the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Second Team All-Star squad on three occasions. In the 2006 Eastern Maine championship game, she was moved from defender to forward and tallied both of her team's goals in a 2-1 overtime victory.

Jillian has been on the varsity softball team for four years and was a member of the Eastern Maine championship teams in 2005, 2006, and 2007 and the State Class B champions in 2005. She led her team in batting, on-base percentage, hits, home runs, runs scored, and stolen bases in both her junior and senior years. Jillian was a first team All-Conference player as a sophomore and junior and was the team's Most Valuable Offensive Player in 2006.

In addition to her excellence in athletics, Jillian has been active in a variety of extra-curricular activities. She has been involved in student government at Winslow, and has served on the yearbook staff for three years - the last year as editor in chief. She has been a member of the math team and Varsity Club and has been a peer tutor and volunteer youth coach. She is a member of the National Honor Society, and has been active in working to support a variety of Winslow-area charities.

Jillian has a career grade point average of 4.016 and is second in her class of 141 students. She plans to further her education at Babson College, where she will major in Entrepreneurial Studies, and play softball. She is the daughter of Michael and Patricia Smith of Winslow.

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1972 for the purpose of: 1) appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes; and, 2) to formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction and honor to the state of Maine.
