Brian Harris

A three-sport athlete at Penobscot Valley High School in Howland, Brian Harris has participated in soccer, basketball, and tennis during his four year career. Brian has earned three varsity letters in soccer and was named captain for the Howlers during his senior campaign. Cited as an outstanding leader and role model for his peers, particularly younger players, Brian starred in goal for PVHS and was named a second team all-star performer in the Penobscot Valley Conference.

Brian has also been a standout performer in basketball for three seasons. He earned varsity letters as both a junior and a senior and was team captain last season. He earned a spot on the Penobscot Valley Conference All-Academic Team in both 2006 and 2007. Brian is also a four-year player on the Howler tennis team and was a conference all-star pick in 2006.

In addition to his involvement in athletics, Brian has been active in numerous other activities in his school. A highly visible school leader, he has been a member of the Student Council and was elected as class president three times. An accomplished musical performer, he is president of the Tri-M Music Honor Society and has performed in the Penobscot Valley High School concert band, jazz band, and orchestra. Brian also is the first chair violinist with a traveling string quartet and performs with the Bangor Symphony Youth Orchestra. Brian is also an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.

Brian has a career average of 93.7 and ranks fourth in his class of 58 students. Brian plans to attend the University of Maine in Orono in the fall as a liberal arts major. He is the son of Larry and Lori Harris of West Enfield.

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1972 for the purpose of: 1) appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes; and, 2) to formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction and honor to the state of Maine.
